Join us November 3rd & 4th at Finnriver for a community celebration of Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead). This Mexican holiday, celebrated throughout Mexico and in parts of Latin America in the early days of November, honors ancestors and deceased loved ones with traditional offerings of food, beverages, flowers and candles.
The Cider Garden will be decorated with an art installation by Oaxacan artist Luz Rosario who is also creating a community altar in the Haybarn open for public viewing Friday evening and Saturday; as well as offering Mexican crafts and handmade clothing.
On Friday, November 3rd from 5-7pm, there will Latin-infused salsa son cumbia music by DJ David Bonobo with KPTZ’s Radio Kilombo. $3 suggested cover for adults.
JCIRA (Jefferson County Immigrant Rights Advocates) will be hosting a table by the altar in the Haybarn from 3-7pm on Saturday, November 4th, offering traditional hot cocoa and cookies, first come, first served and by donation.
Also on Saturday, November 4th, we welcome LA-based Ensemble Ximarrón 5-7pm for traditional songs and Latin Dance rhythms, including Son Jarocho, Son Huasteco, Cumbia, Son Cumbano, Nuevo Cancion and Trova. $5 suggested cover for adults.
