- Head west and make a stop at the Chimacum Corner Farmstand (~10 min), browse the local provisions and purchase picnic items.
- Depart for Dungeness National Wildlife Refuge / Spit (~1 hr drive).
- Walk part of the Dungeness Spit and enjoy your picnic. Plan 1–2 hours on the spit to enjoy views. Return east to depart the Peninsula via Hood Canal Bridge or continue west to Sequim and Port Angeles to extend your visit to explore the Olympic National Park. If planning to visit the Hoh Rain Forest, consider staying near Forks at Kalaloch Lodge or Lake Crescent.
Day 4 – Hike the Olympic National Park
- Start your day with a guided hike through Olympic’s signature landscapes. Olympic Hiking Co. offers full- and half-day tours that can take you from majestic viewpoints to old-growth forest and scenic trails. One great option: head out early toward the park’s high country for sweeping mountain views — a chance to see snow-capped peaks, ridges, and panoramic vistas if weather permits. This gives a different perspective than coastal or lowland forest hikes.
- After your morning hike, drive toward Lake Crescent for a peaceful lunch beside the water. Soak in the views of mountains reflected on the lake, and — time permitting — enjoy a short walk on one of the forested trails or old-railroad paths around the lake for a mellow post-hike cooldown. The lake is often described as one of the “mountain + lake + forest” gems inside Olympic.
Day 5 – Hoh Rain Forest & Forks
- Drive to Hoh Rainforest. The Hoh lies on the west side of Olympic National Park, about a two-hour drive from Port Angeles and under an hour from Forks. The Hall of Mosses Trail (.8 miles/ 1.2 km) is an iconic loop that takes you through old growth forest and features a grove of maple trees draped with abundant club moss.
- Drive to Ruby & Rialto Beach for coastal views & photos. Swap the deep greens of the rainforest for the crashing waves of the Pacific Coast. Ruby Beach’s windswept vistas and iconic sea stacks set the stage for some of the most breathtaking coastal photography in the region. Just a short drive away, Rialto Beach offers a moody shoreline walk, tide pools teeming with marine life, and the famous “Hole-in-the-Wall”—a must-see if the tides align. It’s the perfect way to round out your Olympic National Park day with fresh ocean air and unforgettable scenery.
- And for the Twilight fans in your group, a quick visit to Forks offers a fun pop-culture tie-in to your rainforest visit.
Day 6 – Lavender & Wine in Sequim
- Head west back to Sequim, where endless lavender fields and sunny skies create one of the Peninsula’s most colorful destinations. Wander local farms, pick up handcrafted lavender goods, or plan your visit around Sequim Lavender Weekend in July—an iconic festival that fills the valley with scents, sounds, and celebrations.
- A number of Lavender Farms are open for tours including Purple Haze Lavender Farm and Jardin du Soleil.

Day 7 – Recharge & Farewell
As your Olympic Peninsula journey winds down, enjoy one last peaceful morning in Port Ludlow—perhaps a slow breakfast, a walk along the marina, or a final moment taking in the mountain-meets-water views. When it’s time to head out, you have two options.
- Travel east across the Hood Canal Bridge toward Seattle for an easy return, passing scenic stretches of water and forest as you transition back to city life. Or, take the southern route along Hood Canal, where a stop at Hama Hama offers a memorable final taste of the region. Explore their oyster farm, enjoy a casual outdoor meal, or pick up fresh shellfish for the road—an iconic way to end your Pacific Northwest adventure.
- Whichever way you go, you’ll leave with a deeper connection to this extraordinary corner of Washington, carrying home the views, flavors, and quiet moments that make the Olympic Peninsula unforgettable.
