DESCRIPTION:Join us for a meaningful celebration as we honor the restoration of the totem pole at Burner Point\, originally carved by renowned Tsimshian artist David Boxley. David and his team will be onsite the week of August 4th\, carefully refurbishing this treasured piece of cultural art. Visitors are welcome to stop by during the week and witness the artistry in action. The dedication ceremony will take place on Sunday\, August 10\, and will include Native dancers and singers\, remarks from David Boxley and culminate in a Celebration Dinner by The Fireside Restaurant. \nThe re-dedication ceremony is free and open to all—we kindly ask that you pre-order your dinner in advance to help us plan accordingly. $33 per person inclusive tax.  \nThe totem pole was originally commissioned by Pope & Talbot to tell the story of Port Ludlow through six symbolic figures: \n\nEagle – representing the land before human habitation\nBear – honoring the ancestors of the S’Klallam people\nTwo Men with Locked Arms – depicting mill owners Pope & Talbot\, who ran the historic Port Ludlow sawmill (1852–1935)\nLumberman – representing the sawmill era\nBeaver – symbolizing the modern building phase\nSix Interlocking Figures – found at the base\, representing the strength and unity of the Port Ludlow community\n\nDonations in support of the project can be made out to: Ludlow Bay Village Assoc. Restoring the original lens and putting it back into service is a beautiful way to honor that history — and to keep the legacy alive for generations to come.\n\n\nAs Jeff Gales\, Executive Director of the USLHS\, put it:\n\n\n\n\nLighthouses have served as critical navigational aids and symbols of safety throughout American history. SUMMARY:PLPA: Barbra Lica Quintet
DESCRIPTION:Barbra Lica’s voice first drew widespread attention when she placed first runner-up at the Sarah Vaughn International Jazz Competition in 2013. That signature sound now has been the centerpiece of seven albums\, mostly of her original music\, and countless tours and jazz festivals from Tokyo to Montreal. Bright and vibrant on one song\, breathy and lilting the next\, Lica varies the mood\, from light and funny to heartfelt and heartbreaking. In addition to her own piano-playing\, depth is provided by her touring partners on bass\, guitar\, keyboards and drums. An appealing performer who enjoys opening up to her audiences\, the Toronto-born artist hasn’t slowed down in the studio\, either. Her eclectic 2024 album of jazz\, folk\, pop\, and rhythm and blues – Impostor Syndrome – earned two nominations from the Canadian Folk Music Awards.
